This initiative focuses on implementing an industry-standard capability that supports the creation of multiple projects with distinct team members, thereby streamlining the team creation process.

However, this opportunity introduces several complexities that must be addressed to ensure a seamless user experience and maintain system integrity.

THE DISCOVERY

As an open-source platform, we knew that not only did the end-user experience matter, but also how we structured our data and code. Every decision had to reinforce our core principle: this is how you do it right.

Simplifying the URL structure for multi-organization support was more than just a UI fix; it was about teaching best practices. Engineers expect well-structured systems, and our URLs needed to reflect that—ensuring clarity, consistency, and efficiency both in the user experience and the codebase.

Given the deep engineering dependencies, the URL overhaul had to be carefully integrated across MVP and post-MVP phases, ensuring that both front-end and back-end systems evolved cohesively without compromising developer experience, usability, or performance.

THE SOLUTION

To effectively address the identified challenges and opportunities, I followed a structured design process that emphasizes collaboration, continuous iteration, and data-driven decision-making.

The marketing survey was eliminated, a free credit-based model replaced the credit card requirement, and an onboarding overview page was introduced to guide users through their first steps.

These changes created a more seamless and engaging user experience, leading to improved activation and retention.
